Listening - Men
It’s not just selective hearing, it is worse!
Me “Don’t touch that pan. It’s hot.”
Man “Ouch! That pan’s hot!”
Me “I am going to a meeting. I will home around 8.”
Man “What time will you be home?”
Men can not be bothered to listen; they are so engrossed in their own little world that they can not be bothered to allow all the words flow in and translate it to whatever language they use in their brain. They do not hear it at all or they just hear enough to decide they have the gist of it and then turn off brain.
I could say, “I am going to a meeting. I will bring home my new boyfriend” and he would probably ask me, “What time will you be home?”
I would feel different if I was the only woman with this complaint. But I am not! I want to understand. Is it intentional? I doubt it – he burned his hand. How does he listen to the first 6 words and miss the last 5? Got me?
